How to Stop Worrying!
By Joanie McMahon PsyD (ABD)
Worry is an international epidemic. People all over this beautiful universe are worried about everything and anything. It could be worried about money or the weather or one’s safety or your children or your health …. or anything.
It seems like it is almost cool to worry. People even get together to worry. They chat about their worries, strategize around their worries, and give all kinds of attention to their worries. It is like a national past time.
When we begin to understand law of attraction and our emotional guidance system, then we begin to understand emotion and how it affects our point of attraction.
The more we worry the more things the universe brings us to worry about. That is just the way it works. Worry attracts more things to worry about. It can and does become a vicious circle.
So, what can we do once we have awareness about our worrying behavior?
How can we begin to stop it so that our point of attraction shifts? We certainly do not want more things to worry about, right?
Well awareness is certainly the first step. And then here are some easy things to do to shift this step by step until worrying is no longer what you do.
As soon as you notice yourself worrying say to yourself “what can I do right now to shift these thoughts so that I feel better?” As soon as you say this to yourself, ideas will begin to pop into your head. They will be things like:
Go for a walk
Call a friend
Meditate
Do an Inner Cell Memory Transformational process
Read this book
Read this poem
Visit a friend
Listen to your favorite CD
Dance
Go skiing
Play with my dog
Play with my child
Think of something funny
You get my drift, when you place your attention on the solution, solutions begin to flow in. You can train yourself out of this habit of worry. It may take some time, but it is well worth the effort.
Most of us are so practiced in worrying, it feels normal, it can feel like we have no control but that is never the case. It is always the result of long practiced sloppy thinking.
Remember nothing is more important than that you feel good. That is the work each and every day!
