Humor is such Great Medicine
By Joanie McMahon PsyD (ABD)
Humor is such great medicine. When we understand law of attraction, we understand that well-being has everything to do with fun, laughter, humor, love, enthusiasm and joy.
People who have cancer and other chronic (emotional & physical) illnesses have laughed their way back into well-being.
Galen, an early Greek physician, who practiced in Rome (A.D. 129-199), was the first recorded medical person to talk about humor and its power to heal. He used laughter and humor to treat the sick wife of a Roman aristocrat and she recovered. (Greenwood-Robinson, Maggie, PhD. 20 / 20 Thinking. p 104-105. NY: Avery, Putnam Special Markets, 2003.).
Norman Cousins, in his great book Anatomy of an Illness, used humor to trigger a release of endorphins that elevated his mood and brought total remission of his disease. Candace Pert, discusses this in her great book Molecules of Emotion. (Pert, Candace, PhD.Molecules of Emotion. p 167. NY, Scribner, 1997.)
It is nice to include the work of scientists to explain this and at the same time, we can just experiment on ourselves. When we have a great laugh, we feel better, it’s just that simple. It is natural to feel good always. That is who we really are, one big bundle of loving energy.
Here is a wonderful clip by Abraham-Hicks that has several incidences of moments of laughter in it.
